The Position
The HIM (Medical Records) Team Lead will be an essential member of the team, overseeing the daily operations and coordination of health information management tasks, including data collection, indexing, and secure record maintenance. This role also emphasizes leadership responsibilities such as training new staff, quality assurance, and fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Your Day-to-Day Work
- Manage and coordinate incoming and outgoing patient health information requests.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of records in the EMR system (EPIC).
- Maintain electronic faxes and index provider correspondence.
- Supervise and provide support for complex requests, including chart audits, insurance claims, and legal inquiries.
- Facilitate a cohesive team environment by leading team meetings and addressing concerns.
- Mentor and evaluate team members, providing feedback and recognizing accomplishments.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA and other federal/state regulations.
- Document and manage the workflow for specialized procedures (e.g., FAA physicals, lab abstractions).
Medical Records Team Lead Environment and Shift Details
This full-time role requires onsite work, typically within regular office hours, Monday through Friday. The office setting includes moderate noise and involves tasks that require long periods of sitting, typing, and handling light equipment.
Medical Records Team Lead Experience & Qualifications
Must-Haves
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of two years of previous medical records or health information experience.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical terminology.
- Proficiency in software applications such as EPIC, Adobe, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Nice-to-Haves
- RHIT (Registered Health Information Technician) certification.
- Prior leadership experience in health information management.

The pay scale for this position ranges from $23.25 - $34.57, influenced by your experience, skill set, and education.
